It sounds funny when you say it out loud. I have worked in Corporate America for almost 20 years now, and as a general rule this is one thing I will never understand. Let’s think about this in other life terms. If you are in school and you have a paper due, and there’s a specific deadline and you don’t meet it, do you get rewarded for taking longer?
Let’s say your in a race, someone is kicking your ass… your way behind no way on Gods green earth are you going to win, do you still get the gold?
Ease on down the road with me a little. I am efficient ok, not bragging just a fact. Yet when its review time, the fact I don’t work overtime is a negative check in my box. My ability to get my work done within the time allotted is NOT a good thing. I should be slowing down, chilling out and getting paid extra to do it. What’s up with that? Who in Management signed off on this moronic take? God love him, I don’t; but the workaholics that don’t have lives along with the people who don’t know what the hell they are doing are going to retire long before I ever do, and you know why? Time and ½; the most rewarding to the least productive workers in America.
