Intervention for the Non-Addicted

Wow, a room full of people telling you how much they love you, how much they care about you and how they want the absolute best for you. Shoot why do you need to be addicted to something in order for this to happen? Just imagine how great you would feel to have all the people you love the most tell you the same. Why is it that we wait until someone is is on their death bed to explain to them how much they meant to you? Why is it you can’t be expressive and allow you own personal vulnerability show to the ones you love the most. We try so hard to keep it all inside and be strong. Not opening in a way that may be a little uncomfortable but to us, it’s the truth. I want to be silly and say I love you a million times, the way I do with my daughter. I want to be silly when things are serious and I want to allow myself to feel always. I want the wall I build by heartache and disappointment to be made from sand, so that it falls and washes away and every day is another chance to live, love, laugh and accept my owns faults in a way that I am my own Intervention. Tell someone you love them today, it’s just a door to open and walk through.

Paper or Plastic

Ok greenies we hear you. It’s a little hotter in CA, and I do feel like we should not be seeing the daylight at 9PM anymore, but gheez, can we please figure out how to make the ‘green’ bags fit what the plastic ones did? You can’t tell me that these are manufactured in a plant that uses energy generated by solar or wind power, so where do we go from here? How about this, we re-use the plastic bags.... there is Brilliance; I mean re-use anything in America and you might as well patent, sell and make a million. We are famous for one thing, and that is consumption. Ask China, they know. If we can get past the plastic bags and just go straight to boxes… then we’re all good. We won’t need to stock up on Mac & Cheese for a good month, and that box it came in, you can use that to start packing up your over financed home your losing. Fannie… Freddie are you coming?

Sale

Why does this word do something to the chemistry of women? You know why, because in all other areas of life this is the one we think we have mastered. If we have to get up at the crack ass of dawn to be somewhere so that we can save $50.00, you might as well of said there’s a slip n slide of chocolate at the end of the rainbow, and Alice is waiting to check us out. I mean anything we can buy and save… say that again… buy and save we think we rock. I happen to think maybe we’re not so rockin. I think Sale is just another way to MANipulate the yes factor. I’ll be seeing ya, at the stores, on the web or just calling from your couch at the unbelievable deal coming up next. See you after the break.

Holy Crap, I’m a People Pleaser……

I recently figured this out, and you know what I’m pissed about it! I totally thought that what I put out there was what I am getting back; little did I know I wasn’t. This realization came via my Mother, I know what you’re saying, Mom’s always know best. You know what, that’s the truth. I am starting to re-define myself, my construction cones are up and I have to be a constant WIP (work in progress). I think that I have always wanted to do more for people then I have ever thought I wanted back, well that is over. Life is too darn short to short my own self. I want relationships based on un-conditional expectations, because that is what I am willing to give. I am no longer willing to jump through hoops like a circus dog to make someone happy. Selfish, maybe, but more self less in my new book. It’s a whole new chapter in my Novel cause Lord knows the brick wall I have been knocking on isn’t moving.

Lost Souls

I wanted to take a moment and wish all the families who lost loved ones on this day 7 years ago my thoughts and prayers. I think this Country for a brief moment came together like we’ve never been before. It brought out something in us that I believe is always there, it just gets forgotten as we continue in our own lives. If we can grab onto that place where we were just a little at a time for the rest of our lives, I think change towards Humanity in this Country is possible. We all want the same, Love, Respect and the ability to reach our dreams. Our Grandparents, Great Grandparents and so fourth came to the U.S for the same dreams we still strive for today. Those souls were Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Aunts, Uncles and Friends. Let us not forget any of the blood shed this Country has seen in the name of Freedom. It will continue to flow as long as other’s hate what we have. The fuel behind the discontent for our Country needs to be Love; it is the most powerful force we have as a Nation.

The Cubicle

As a sit in my little grey cube in the “Corporate World” I ponder the manner of which my own existence is sustained in a space fit for a rat. Wow, how lucky I am to be able to be expressive with pictures and the occasional knick knacks that are collected throughout my mundane career. The certificates of appreciation, the innate memorabilia, and the glass 10 yr employee stand which could kill someone above my head. I mean how did this happen? When did people think other people would be ok with this idea, and why are we. In America we don’t do small, we buy Excursions, Navigators & Escalades, but to earn those we work in a ½ bath space. The oxymoron screams…….

An experiment, that’s what we are, maybe someday we will have a cube with a view; pray for us... won’t you.

Are You Covered?

From my experience it seems that the profit margin and the ethical margin shall never meet in regards to this issue. In 2008 if you have an illness and are un-insured you might as well be on Welfare now. The costs of health care will take you there in an instant. The control over your life, where you work or the dreams you may want to pursue, now come with a preface of your health care coverage. Our President talks to their” Fellow Americans’: about loving your job, doing what you want, going after the Dream, but if you have a congenital defect or a pre-existing condition in this country, dreaming is your only option. The pursuit of your personal happiness now comes with a disclaimer. Pursue your love and sacrifice your health, or sacrifice your happiness for your health.

Hold on… I think France is calling.

Rewarding Overtime

It sounds funny when you say it out loud. I have worked in Corporate America for almost 20 years now, and as a general rule this is one thing I will never understand. Let’s think about this in other life terms. If you are in school and you have a paper due, and there’s a specific deadline and you don’t meet it, do you get rewarded for taking longer?
Let’s say your in a race, someone is kicking your ass… your way behind no way on Gods green earth are you going to win, do you still get the gold?

Ease on down the road with me a little. I am efficient ok, not bragging just a fact. Yet when its review time, the fact I don’t work overtime is a negative check in my box. My ability to get my work done within the time allotted is NOT a good thing. I should be slowing down, chilling out and getting paid extra to do it. What’s up with that? Who in Management signed off on this moronic take? God love him, I don’t; but the workaholics that don’t have lives along with the people who don’t know what the hell they are doing are going to retire long before I ever do, and you know why? Time and ½; the most rewarding to the least productive workers in America.

High Heels or Flats

So it’s 7AM and you’re deciding again what shoe to wear. Are they the difference between Responsible and Daring, Loud or Quiet, Desirable or Taken? What is it about shoes for a woman that gives them so much power? Can what you walk on actually make you feel like you are the one in control. I think it’s a possibility. I think of a pair of woman’s shoes like a Man’s car. The impression based on others around you, even though you may not even know what they might portray. If I look back in time my 1st realization of the power of shoes was Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz. I mean those ruby slippers walked her through loneliness, friendship, fear and the belief that they would always bring her home. Her Journey gave me @ the age of 8 the true understanding that there really is no place like home. My shoes did not always represent where I came from, who I was or what I wanted for my future, but I knew with them on my feet where they could take me. With each step you take, look down and see what your choice was today.

High heels or flats, and are you what you walk in?

The Condition in Un-conditional

Most of our relationships are bonded by this one rule, un-conditional. It maybe love, respect or forgiveness; whatever it is for you I can guarantee one thing, we don’t give it to ourselves. I find it so interesting that we are willing to look beyond so many of the same faults in our families and friends but cannot forgive them in us. That we can see the qualities in others we have but not see them as our own personal strengths. We have the ability to look beyond a person’s appearance; to see one’s soul but yet feel empty and alone when we stand naked in front of our own mirror. We criticize our uniqueness in the same reflection that wants to define originality. If we say it over and over again we can harness the un-conditional power within, when that happens you can truly have peace within your soul. Life then becomes lived because you dared to take the journey.
